Local resident’s camera captures falling phenomenon
We’ll call it a UFP, an unidentified fiery phenomenon.
Or maybe it should be called a falling phenomenon.
At any rate, Wallowa County resident Cathy Wirth would like to know if anyone else spotted this odd phenomenon in the sky late in the day on Saturday, Sept. 1. She said she snapped the following sequence of four photos looking west from her property, which is located between Lostine and Wallowa. She didn’t think to look at a clock, but she thinks it was probably later than 6 p.m., possibly much later, perhaps more like sevenish. Also please note: The four photos were not shot in very quick succession. She estimates roughly 10 minutes elapsed from the first shot to the last.
Wirth said the distant, horseshoe-shaped object easily caught her eye since the sky was completely clear but for it – no clouds whatsoever.
To our eye the object in the photo appears fiery, as if it’s something burning up in the atmosphere.
